Dr. Susan M. Shaw is a professor of Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Oregon State University. She is the author of Reflective Faith: A Theological Toolbox for Women and God Speaks to Us, Too: Southern Baptist Women on Church, Home, and Society and is co-author with Grace Ji-Sun Kim of Intersectional Theology: An Introductory Guide. She is a contributing writer for Ms. Magazine online and Baptist News Global and is the general editor of Women’s Lives around the World: A Global Encyclopedia and co-author with Janet Lee of the introductory textbook Gendered Lives, Feminist Visions: Classic and Contemporary Readings. She is an ordained Baptist minister who makes her church home in the United Church of Christ.

Arrington Mormon History Lecture Presented by Richard White

All the possibilities that arose with nineteenth-century American railroads seemed magnified in the transcontinentals, which came to epitomize progress, nationalism, and civilization itself. But to understand the significance of these railroads on the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Pacific Railroad, we need to look at what they collectively achieved and what they failed to achieve. They remade the continent, but this was not necessarily always a good thing. The 25th Arrington Lecture will be presented by Richard White on September 19, 2019, 7:00 pm, in the Logan Tabernacle.
